About Tinker Jacks
Tinker Jacks is an independent buying-guide site for people who work on their own cars, trucks and SUVs at home.
We cover the gear that gets a vehicle off the ground and keeps it there: floor jacks, jack stands, bottle jacks, car ramps, and the creepers and rolling seats you use underneath.
Who we write for
Our readers change their own oil, rotate their own tires and swap their own brake pads in a driveway or a home garage. Many have done it for decades, and some are buying their first real jack.
We keep the words plain. When a term matters, like lift range, saddle height or ton rating, we explain it the first time it comes up.
What we do
We read the specs, the maker information and the manuals for the gear we cover. We also look at what owners report after months of use, good and bad.
Then we turn that into picks, side-by-side comparisons and plain answers. Our How we research page explains each step.
What we don't do
We don't make or sell jacks, stands or ramps, and no brand pays us to rank its products. We aren't affiliated with any maker we write about.
We don't claim to have tested every product ourselves. When we pick something, we say why, based on its specs, its features and owner feedback.
We don't replace your vehicle's manual or the maker's manual. Those decide where to lift, where to place stands and how to use the gear.
